3 more H1N1 suspects die

MULTAN: Three more H1N1 suspected patients died at Nishtar Hospital, increasing the death toll to 42 since December last on Tuesday, said the health officials. They were Haseena, 20, Rasheeda, 50, and Karamat, 53. They hailed from Khanewal, Multan and Layyah respectively. Talking to mediamen, Epidemiology focal person Dr Attaur Rehman said that Nishtar Hospital had ensured availability of all medicines and treatment facilities for suspects. Earlier, a team of specialist doctors arrived here in the first week of January for suspects’ treatment. The team has been deployed at Nishtar Hospital. A massive influenza vaccination drive has been launched in south Punjab to control the epidemic.
